Prof. Lynn Schler

Lynn Schler is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Politics and Government and the Head of the Inter-University Program in African Studies. Lynn’s research examines the intersections between African societies and cultures and western colonial and postcolonial interventions in Africa.
Research interests: Social and cultural history of Africa, colonialism and postcolonialism, nationalism in Africa, development, urban history

Shahar Führer

Program Coordinator

Shahar Fuhrer received a BA in Literature, Linguistics and History from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. She was part of the center as an MA student in the Department of History. Shahar oversees the staff, programming – events, conferences, study tours, and overall operations of the Africa Centre.

Carmit Walberg

Carmit Walberg

Carmit has a BA and MA in Politics and Government from Ben-Gurion university. Today Carmit is a doctoral student in Politics and Government, Sociology and anthropology and the Africa center. Her research focuses on Activism and social movements in Africa and the African diaspora. Carmit is the teaching assistant in the Africa and Activism course, and responsible for the center’s monthly newsletter.

Dolev Zaitlin

Dolev Zaitlin

Dolev is a second year student for bachelor’s degree at Ben Gurion university. He combines African studies with geography for his diploma. In Africa center he is responsible for maintaining the social media platforms and in assisting with the organization of different events and conventions.

Gal Vissel

Gal Vissel

Gal is a 3rd year BA student. He majors in the Inter-University Program for African Studies and in Sociology and Anthropology. At the Tamar Golan Africa Centre, Uri is in charge of the Afro-Cinema screening series, maintaining and updating the African center’s websites and for organizing and coordinating the different events
