Ghana and Malawi 2012
In Ghana, the students partnered with the local non-profit organization “Plight of the Child” which fights against child discrimination and abuse. The students ran a summer school teaching math, English, science and computers to both children and adults. In addition, they joined a group of doctors in setting up mobile clinics in ten different villages throughout the region. Finally, they began a process of developing a local library and internet connection.
In Malawi, the students partnered with the non-profit organization YODEP (Youth for Development and Productivity), which is dedicated to directing young people towards leadership in their communities. The volunteers helped to create a new medical clinic, youth lounge, soccer league, and composting system.
