The students volunteered in the Ghanaian NGO, “Cheerful Hearts.”  This organization is a grassroots initiative that focuses on issues of child labor and public health in the community of Kasoa in Ghana. The students spent the first week immersing themselves in and learning about Ghanaian culture in Accra, and later began volunteer work in schools and community centers. Their work focused mostly on children, but they also conducted community outreach and education regarding child labor.
